Introduction

Welcome to 2009. The media are still talking down the economy, however it is not all doom and gloom out there. Many people I spoke to over the summer break said they had experienced a strong last quarter and were at least cautiously optimistic for the start of 2009.

One of our clients Interlease who are a leading commercial finance provider issue a market wrap each week. Here are some interesting facts from their latest edition.

These numbers are great if you are a borrower or an exporter or both. Another interesting statistic has been the rise of the Roy Morgan Consumer Confidence Indicator during December/January which is in contrast to the recent NAB Business Confidence Indicator which has fallen. My view is focus on your own business and remember nothing bad ever comes from over servicing your current clients.
